DAVISON TWP. (WJRT) – Two weeks after three dogs were found abandoned in Davison Cemetery, Child’s Veterinary Clinic continues to provide care for KC and Bruce, while celebrating the recent adoption of Oscar, the third dog.
The story, reported by ABC 12 on January 22, detailed the plight of the dogs discovered by the Forys family, who found them cold and hungry. Bruce had been shot in the leg, prompting urgent veterinary attention.
Cindy Childs of the clinic noted that after the story aired, a family from Ithaca quickly stepped up to adopt Oscar. “Oscar went right up to them, and was just all over, and loving,” Childs said. “They were like, ‘Okay, this is the one we want.'”
The adopting family, who spoke with a reporter, expressed their happiness and said the Oscar is doing well.
“It made my heart happy that he found a home,” said Childs “We’re really happy; we just need to find homes for KC and Bruce.”
Dr. Delmar Childs reported that Bruce is recovering well despite still having the bullet in his leg. “He is doing just fine,” he said.
KC, who was once malnourished, is now a playful pup. Both would be best as the only pets in the home.
“They are kind of going stir crazy because they really want to be in somebody’s house and want to be loved,” Childs added. “Now that they are getting healthier and stronger, they need more playtime.”
According to Davison Township police, a man has confessed to shooting Bruce, claiming he believed the dogs were threatening his chickens. The case has been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review of potential charges.
“Thank you very much to everyone who has been a positive in this story,” Childs said. “Shame on the people responsible for dumping the dogs and for shooting one. They may have baited the dogs in.”
If KC and Bruce do not find homes within the week, they may be placed with a rescue organization.
Those interested in adopting KC or Bruce are encouraged to contact Childs Veterinary Clinic.
