2 dogs shot after Sacramento deputy is bitten at park, sheriff says

A deputy with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office was bitten while encountering four dogs at a park on Thursday. Deputies responded by shooting two of the dogs, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies with a team that addresses homelessness were at Jack N. Sheldon Park in Florin when the attack happened around 10:15 a.m., the sheriff’s office said. The deputies had approached a parked car when two dogs tethered inside got loose and one bit a deputy. Another deputy used pepper spray to no effect, the sheriff’s office said. The deputy under attack fired his gun, hitting two of the dogs. The injured deputy was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. All dogs are alive and animal control took them in for treatment, the sheriff’s office said. The dog’s owner will not face any citations or changes.
