BROWNINGTON- Closing Interstate 91 around Exit 27 this past Tuesday as a result of the shooting of Border Patrol agent David Maland, created an unintended problem. The freezing temperatures caused icy roads affecting traffic rerouted on gravel roads to circumvent the road closure. Tractor trailer drivers that chose to go through Brownington on Hinman-Settler Road had trouble navigating Huguenin Hill.
“Multiple trucks went off the road,” Brownington Road Foreman Geoff Falconer said at a selectboard meeting on Wednesday. “They should have told them to go on Route 5.”
