Dog of the Week: Skippy

Skippy had a lot of people worried when he was spotted running with a limp in three counties this fall. When he was finally caught, we all were so relieved. But for Skippy, he still had a long way to go before he could feel the same relief. The first few days in the shelter, Skippy curled up into a ball and didn’t move. Eventually he started to accept food and allow you to leash him for walks.

When we took Skippy to the vet for his limp, we learned that he most likely had been shot in the leg. Now we know what he was running from.

Despite this trauma, Skippy has blossomed in the shelter. He has especially perked up with the recent snow –– he loves it! He enjoys the company of other dogs, is an active member of playgroup, and will jump up on you for attention. We can’t figure out what kind of mix this little guy is, but he is adorable. At just 19 pounds, he looks like someone shrunk a retriever into a small dog.

Skippy has shown that he is ready to trust again. He needs an extra special human who will not let him down.

Please call the Athens County Dog Shelter at (740) 593-5415 to meet Skippy.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
