LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Clark County School District Police Department has filed charges against James Harris, a 54-year-old K-9 officer, following an investigation into the death of a police dog named Marley.
The Clark County District Attorney’s Office issued a summons for Harris, who faces two misdemeanor charges.
These charges relate to leaving an animal unattended in a vehicle and failing to provide proper air, food, shelter, or water to an impounded animal.
The investigation began in November 2024 after the unexpected death of Marley, a K-9 with the Clark County School District Police Department.
Harris has been employed by the district since January 2003.
In accordance with the negotiated agreement with the bargaining unit, Harris has been assigned to home with pay.
