Travis and Jason Kelce aren’t playing in this bowl game, but their namesakes are.
The Puppy Bowl is returning for its 21st year on Feb. 9, bringing 142 rescue puppies from 80 shelters across 40 states and two countries to “the cutest competition of the year,” according to Warner Bros. Discovery.
Here’s when the game will kick off, how you can watch it, and the “players” from Ohio.
When is Animal Planet Puppy Bowl?

“Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl serves as an annual pop culture programming event that continues to expand in reach, awareness and of course, puppies, every year,” said Howard Lee, Chief Creative Officer of U.S. Networks and President of Discovery Networks. “Win or lose, Puppy Bowl XXI will have the cutest players in the game on Sunday, February 9 and will inspire families across the country to adopt a new furry friend.”
Eleven special-needs dogs — including Jolene, an American Pit bull terrier-mix from the Humane Society of Greater Dayton competing in a wheelchair — also will take the field, “not letting their disabilities slow them down,” according to Warner Bros. Discovery.
The broadcast begins at 2 p.m. ET Sunday, Feb. 9 — Super Bowl Sunday — and pits Team Ruff against Team Fluff.
Who are the Ohio dogs on the Puppy Bowl 2025 roster?
Six dogs from Ohio (and another two named after Ohio natives, the Kelce brothers) are among the puppies competing in the 2025 Puppy Bowl. They are:
- Animal Friends of Humane Society in Hamilton, Ohio: Sisters Bonnie and Inez, playing for Team Ruff.
- Humane Society of Greater Dayton: Jolene (special needs, wheelchair), playing for Team Ruff; Pumpkin, Team Fluff; and Zinnia, Team Fluff.
- Northeast Ohio SPCA in Cleveland: Tina, playing for Team Ruff.
The canine Kelce brothers — Jason and Travis — come from the Florida Little Dog Rescue Group of St. Cloud.
