A dog that arrived in a shelter due to her owner fleeing domestic abuse has been waiting for a new home for 18 months.
Lurcher cross Stella came to the Cotswold Dogs and Cats Home (CDCH) in Gloucestershire through its Safe Space fostering scheme and it has not been possible for her to be reunited with her previous owner.
The team at CDCH said that Stella’s wait for a new home had been longer than most and they would like to see her adopted by a new family as soon as possible.
A member of the shelter’s team described her as “the perfect mix of energy and love”.
Due to her previous home, Stella can be nervous meeting new people but those caring for her say this has not stopped her forming “loving and trusting” relationships with staff.
Her standout qualities are her obedience and attentiveness, CDCH said, and she would be a great pet for those who enjoy teaching their dog new tricks.
Animal care assistant Shannon Clark said: “She’ll keep you on your toes with her playful spirit and amaze you with how quickly she learns new tricks.
“But at the end of the day, she’s a total cuddle bug who just wants to snuggle up on the sofa with her favourite people.”
