Police said a man was shot at while walking his two dogs. The man wasn’t hit, but one dog was shot and the other was hit by shrapnel. Both are expected to survive.
PORTLAND, Ore. — Two dogs were injured in a shooting late Sunday night in Southeast Portland, though police said their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
The shooting was reported at around 10:45 p.m. on Southeast 60th Avenue near the intersection with Southeast Ogden Street, according to dispatch records. A neighborhood resident had been out walking their two dogs when someone inside a vehicle fired shots, according to Portland Police Bureau Public Information Manager Mike Benner.
It appeared that one dog was shot and the other was hit by shrapnel, but the owner was not hit, according to Benner. Both dogs were taken to an animal hospital. A nearby vehicle was also struck by gunfire.
The suspect or suspects fled before police arrived, Benner said. No further information about the circumstances of the shooting was immediately available. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 25-16916.
