Two dogs found abandoned in home, police say

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – The Evansville Police Department say two dogs, a puppy and an adult, were found in what appeared to be an abandoned home Friday, January 17 in the 1400 block of Judson Street.

Officials say Evansville Animal Care & Control requested their assistance after they say a puppy was hanging out a broken window.

They say Animal Control was concerned about the puppy possibly getting injured from the broken glass.

Police say they found evidence showing the property’s owner had not been home for a few days.

According to the report, officers made entry to the home and saw multiple jugs of water, a dog food bag with a small amount of food left and feces strewn across the home.

They say the dogs had chewed on the jugs of water as they did not have access to any other water.

The house appeared to haver been abandoned to officers on scene, also leaving the dogs without heat.

Animal Control too a small pit bull mix puppy that police say they could see its ribs and had feces in its fur.

Another adult pit bull was taken from the home as well.

An officer who responded to the home for a theft report January 9 said the puppy did not look emaciated at that time, but the owner did not allow them to go in.

As of Sunday, January 19, no arrests have been made, and the owner’s identity has not been released.

There is no word on the two dogs’ conditions.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
