Dogs dead after Roanoke County house fire

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – Two of three household dogs have died and a third is unhurt after a fire in Roanoke County Wednesday afternoon.

Roanoke County Fire and Rescue responded January 15, 2024 to the 4400 block of Wates Lane in the Masons Cove area. Crews saw heavy smoke coming from a two-story home and brought the fire under control in about 40 minutes, according to the fire department.

The two adults in the home were unhurt, according to the fire department, but damage is such that they are staying with family until further notice.

The Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire started because combustibles were too close to heating source.

The total cost of the damage is estimated at $150,000.

Fire crews say the fire was in a very rural area of Roanoke County with a long unpaved driveway, and tankers were used from across the county to provide water.

The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
