DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – Three dogs are dead and a family is displaced after an early morning house fire in Duluth.
According to the Duluth Fire Department, on Wednesday at around 4:20 a.m., crews responded to a structure fire near Spear Avenue and Glenwood Street in Duluth.
When crews arrived they found “heavy” smoke and an active fire in the basement of a single-family home.
No injuries were reported and all residents were able to be evacuated safely.
However, three dogs died in the fire.
Officials say the residents have been displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
There is estimated to be $100,000 in damage to the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s Office.
