Winnebago County Animal Services hosts reduced-fee dog adoption event

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Winnebago County Animal Services (WCAS) offers reduced adoption fees for their “New Year, New Best Friend” event.

The event takes place from Jan. 16-18 at 4517 N. Main St., offering reduced-fee adoptions for dogs who have been at their facility since before 2025. These dogs can be adopted for $25 during the event.

“We have 50 dogs who have been looking for a family to call their own since last year,” says Adoption & Volunteer Program Coordinator, Amber Pinnon. “Some of these dogs have even been here since September and October. We’re really hoping that this event allows these dogs the opportunity to find their forever home.”

All adoptions include a wellness exam, spay or neuter, microchip, vaccinations, flea and tick preventative and more.

In order to adopt, an application must be approved by WCAS, which can be done prior to the event on their website or in person at the shelter.

Adopters must also be 18-years-old or older, show a state-issued photo ID, have little or no animal complaints on record and all cats and dogs in the household must have a current rabies vaccination and county pet license.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
