MARENGO TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two dogs were rescued from a structure fire in Marengo Township on Saturday, Jan. 11.
At around 5:13 p.m., the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to a structure fire on H Drive North in Marengo Township.
The call came in from a concerned caller who reported visible flames from the residence’s window, and the sound of dogs barking inside.
Deputies observed heavy smoke and flames from the home upon arrival. Two vehicles were in the driveway, leading deputies to believe the home may have been occupied.
The deputies quickly entered the house to search for occupants. They rescued two dogs from the home before evacuating. No human occupants were found inside, officials said.
Marengo Township Fire Department personnel arrived shortly after and searched the residence, wearing protective gear, to ensure no other individuals were present.
