CINCINNATI (WXIX) -A woman was rescued after falling through a frozen lake while trying to get her dogs off of the ice in Florence on Sunday, according to Florence police.

Authorities reported receiving a call about the incident at Rio Grande Circle at approximately 6:40 p.m.

Once police and deputies with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office arrived, they found the woman in the lake about 100 feet from the shore.

Officers shared that she was trying to rescue her dogs from the ice when she accidentally fell through into the lake. Police say she was in the lake for about 10 minutes before the police arrived and successfully brought her to safety.
