SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, MI – Seven horses, five dogs and two cats were rescued from a home in Hazelton Township after being found without proper shelter, food and water.
The rescue took place on Friday, Jan. 10, according to a news release from the Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Office.
The animals were in “obvious distress,” according to the release.
A rescue was conducted with Shiawassee County Animal Control and Horses’ Haven, a nonprofit horse rescue organization based in Livingston County.
Each of the animals is expected to make a full recovery, according to the release.
The case will be turned over to the Shiawassee County Prosecutor’s Office for possible criminal charges, according to the release.
