WASHINGTON — Are you missing your dogs? Two pups found lost and running through the snowy streets of D.C. Monday morning are currently in the care of a neighbor, awaiting reunion with their owners.
It all began when a concerned Redditor, u/reasonablemaxim, spotted two dogs running east on Florida Avenue in LeDroit Park. The post, shared on the r/washingtondc subreddit, described the dogs as “running around in the street in the snow” with no visible owner in sight. The Redditor was able to leash them but said the dogs wouldn’t come inside. However, they fed and watered the pups, ensuring they were well cared for while waiting for animal control.
As Redditors rallied to help, the post quickly gained attention, with offers of assistance pouring in. One neighbor, u/Perfect_Studio1534, stepped up to offer the dogs a warm, spacious home. “They are safe inside. Thnx Stephan for getting these two out of the cold,” the update read. The dogs were kept cozy, fed and given a comfortable spot to rest while waiting for their owners — or animal control services, which are closed due to inclement weather.
As the snow continued to fall, Redditors shared tips and suggestions on how to reunite the dogs with their family. Updates flooded in, with one person even suggesting the poster reach out on Nextdoor and other platforms to spread the word.
While the owners have not yet been located, one Redditor expressed their relief: “Thank you for being a good person. I hope these pups have nice humans looking for them.”
