The Trigg County Wildcats will play in the Rafferty’s Double Dogs Caveland Classic that begins Thursday afternoon at Edmondson County.
The Wildcats will play Apollo at two o’clock in the middle school gym. Those teams are in the same bracket as Mayfield (6-1) and Ohio County (3-6).
Trigg County (5-3) snapped a two-game skid in the final game of Logan County’s H&H Holiday Classic on Saturday against East Robertson, Tenn.
Apollo is 7-3 with wins over Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic, Crittenden County, and Webster County.
The schools have met twice in history – both in the past two seasons. Apollo won 62-53 in overtime in 2022-23 with Trigg County returning the favor 67-54 on Jan. 26 at Wildcat Gym.
The bottom bracket has John Hardin (1-9) playing Ballard Memorial (3-4) and Allen County-Scottsville (3-5) playing the host Edmonson County (6-4).
The winners and losers will play on Friday afternoon at 3:45; the championship is set for Saturday at 3:45.
For Trigg County, it’s their first appearance in the event since the 1994-95 season when they went 0-2 with losses to Bowling Green and Caverna.
