Police arrest man for alleged animal abuse involving a dog in St. Albans

St. Albans police said they arrested a man Tuesday, after a dog was found in his home after abandoned for an extended length of time with no heat, electricity, food or water.Police said the man they took into custody, 34-year-old Kyle Gratton, now faces felony animal cruelty charges.A 1.5-year-old Rottweiler named Hank was rescued by the nonprofit organization For the Love of Dogs Vermont.Earlier this month, the St. Albans Police Department received information about a dog that was reported to have been abused and neglected at a home near Fisher Pond Road in the town of St. Albans. The investigation found that the dog was abandoned for several weeks before it was first reported to police. Gratton is scheduled to appear in the Franklin County Superior Courthouse on Feb. 4, 2025, at 8:30 a.m.
