St. Lucie Firefighters save dogs, turtle from Christmas blaze

In a heroic start to the holiday, St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD) responded to a structure fire rescuing two dogs and a turtle.

At 8:33 a.m., several units responded to a call for a residential fire near 13th and Boston Ave., in Fort Pierce.

Upon arrival, crews faced heavy smoke and fire in the back of a four-unit structure, according to a post by the SLCFD.

In a Christmas miracle, the firefighters rescued all the dogs and the little turtle from the fire, ensuring everyone escaped unharmed as the blaze was extinguished.

According to SLCFD, the fire is under investigation, and the Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
