“Happy Howlidays”: A heartwarming tale of dogs, love, and Christmas”

HOUSTON – The holiday season is upon us, and the joy of cozying up with a feel-good movie comes with it. On Hallmark, a new film titled “Happy Howlidays” promises to deliver those warm, fuzzy feelings we all crave this time of year. According to film psychology expert Justin Spray, watching Christmas movies can benefit your mood, and this latest release is no exception.

The movie stars Jessica Lowndes and Ezra Moreland, the latter of whom won his role through the Hallmark competition “Finding Mr. Christmas.” The film takes place in Seattle, where rain replaces the usual holiday snow, adding a twist to the festive setting and an excuse for a cameo from Moreland’s six-pack. Lowndes plays Mia, who is a bit of a hot mess at the start, waking up with potato chips stuck to her face and clearly running from something. Her journey begins when she finds a stray dog and attempts to drop it off at a rescue center run by Moreland’s character, Max.

While Max and Mia do not get off to a good start their dogs do. The movie’s real “meet cute” moment happens between Mia’s stray and Max’s dog.

Moreland’s journey to acting is as captivating as the film itself. Transitioning from a career in the Navy to modeling which inadvertently led to acting after he won Hallmark’s “Finding Mr. Christmas.” Moreland brings a unique perspective to his role. His military background has equipped him with the skills to handle pressure and adapt to new challenges, which he applies to his acting career. Lowndes praises his performance, noting that audiences will be impressed by his debut on the Hallmark Channel.

“Happy Howlidays” also touches on the theme of loneliness during the holiday season. Family conflict pushes Lowndes’s character, Mia, to face the prospect of spending Christmas alone, a reality for many people. The film explores this theme with honesty and warmth, offering a comforting message for those who may find themselves in similar situations.

In addition to the movie, Lowndes has released a music video for her song “You,” which features her canine co-star from the film. The song plays during a pivotal scene in the movie, adding an extra layer of charm to the story.

“Happy Howlidays” is now streaming on Hallmark Plus and you can visit Hallmark Channel for screening times. Whether you’re a fan of heartwarming stories, adorable dogs, or simply looking for a new holiday tradition, this film is a delightful addition to your holiday watchlist.
