NORWALK, Iowa — Two dogs are dead following a Sunday fire, the Norwalk Fire Department said in a Facebook post.

Shortly before noon on Sunday, firefighters responded to a house fire at 1524 Holly Drive in Norwalk.

After upgrading the severity of the fire’s assignment, Norwalk FD called on other fire departments including crews from Windsor Heights and West Des Moines.

Once crews were on scene, a large fire was found in the living room and entrance of the home.

Two dogs were found and removed during an initial search of the structure.

“Basic life support measures were provided but were unsuccessful,” the fire department wrote.

The only resident in the home at the time of the fire escaped uninjured after being alerted by a smoke detector.

Estimated damage to the home is around $175,000 according to the Norwalk Fire Department, but the resident family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
