CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A Cherokee County animal rescue group is raising funds to help an Air Force veteran who needs to surrender his dog due to his living situation.
According to Semper Fi Legacy Rescue, the veteran served five years, spending three of those years overseas.
Lately, he has been living in his car with his dog and can’t afford to feed himself or his female dog.

The group said the man has been running his car for a short period of time to keep both of them warm and was staying near a dog park in McDonough so the dog can get some exercise.
According to Semper Fi Legacy Rescue, several days ago the vet drove to the Canton area and they secured a hotel room for him that allows pets while they can place his dog into a new home.
They also provided him with groceries, dog food, and toiletries.
The group provided information on how to donate on their Facebook page.
