At this non-profit shelter in Kennewick, Washington, every dog made it on Santa’s nice list.
Tails were wagging and paws were prancing at the Benton Franklin Humane Society as dogs experienced a special kind of Christmas magic – choosing their own favorite gifts!
It all started when Julie Saraceno, a volunteer at the shelter since 2020, created a wishlist for the four-legged residents.
“The shelter doesn’t have the funding for fun things like toys and treats,” Julie said. “And I think every shelter dog deserves those things while they wait for their home.”
Thanks to generous donors, there were enough goodies for all pups. Staff and volunteers arranged the toys under the Christmas tree, letting the excited dogs pick their favorites one by one.

“It was amazing to see how the dogs enjoyed this!” Julie said. “The holidays are a special time and I could tell this made them feel a little bit of that holiday spirit.”
