Woman killed in dog attack on Ira Drive in Augusta

A young woman died Wednesday morning after being attacked by two dogs in the 3500 block of Ira Drive, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

Samara Rogers, 21, of Augusta, was walking on Ira Road when she was attacked by at least one dog, Coroner Mark Bowen said. Rogers was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday.  An autopsy has been scheduled.

Richmond County authorities said deputies were dispatched to the scene in response to a reported dog attack. Upon arrival, authorities found the victim suffering from severe injuries. Despite efforts to provide aid, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office has arrested Charles David Blackwell, 55 of Augusta, for involuntary manslaughter in connection to the incident.

No further details about the victim or the circumstances surrounding the attack have been released at this time, sheriff’s Sgt. John Perry said.

Authorities are expected to provide additional information as the investigation progresses.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
