Ralph Lauren Reunites With Mr. Bags for China Exclusive Crossbody Polo ID Bags

GO BIG: Following an instant sold-out collaboration last year, Ralph Lauren has reunited with Tao Liang, professionally known as Mr. Bags, on a new batch of limited-edition versions of the Polo ID bag for the Chinese market.

Responding to this year’s rising popularity of carry-it-all hobo bags, Liang added a longer, adjustable strap to the large-sized Ralph Lauren Polo ID bag, making it a crossbody style suitable for all walks of life.

“My team and I noticed that the big brand hobo bag is still a very popular style this year. At the same time, when people buy a bag this year in China, they pay extra attention to practicality and what scenarios it would fit,” said Liang.

Launching on Dec. 18 via Mr. Bags’ WeChat, and later in Ralph Lauren’s own retail channels, the latest drop is available in black and brown, both with gold hardware. Each style, retailing under 7,000 renminbi, or $960, comes with two straps, one long and one short.

The Chinese influencer said the collaboration is designed as an ideal end-of-year gift that is stylish, and reasonably priced.

“You can wear it across the body with the long shoulder strap, and you won’t feel constricted when you carry it in winter with a coat; even tall guys can carry it. Short shoulder straps can maintain the original hobo attitude, suitable for commuting or traveling,” said Liang.

In addition to a steadily expanding retail footprint across China, Ralph Lauren is available across Tmall, JD, and the WeChat Mini-program, and has been embracing local digital tools such as WeChat Work, ShopDog, and livestreaming to connect people, inventory, and places.

With more than 6 million followers on Weibo and a dedicated fanbase on WeChat, Liang is known for helping brands including Chloé, Burberry, Dunhill, Givenchy, Tod’s, and Longchamp to sell out limited-edition bags in China.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines.
