A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 9:30 a.m., followed by a grand opening event at 10 a.m.

The restaurant is 7,800 square feet and has double drive-thru lanes, the company said in a news release.

Portillo’s is known for slinging Chicago-style hot dogs, beef and sausage sandwiches, as well as crinkle-cut fries, and chocolate cake shake.

This is the chain’s fourth outpost in the Orlando area. The other three are located in Orlando off Palm Parkway, in Kissimmee off U.S. Highway 192, and in Clermont on State Road 50.

Portillo’s started in 1963 in Villa Park, Illinois – where Dick Portillo opened his first restaurant, The Dog House, according to the brand’s website. It has since grown to over 70 locations across the U.S.

Portillo’s also has a special place in the heart of News 6 reporter Mike DeForest, whose parents were among the company’s earliest employees. You can read that story HERE.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
