As the hosts of Joe Biden‘s annual pardon of turkeys, Peach and Blossom, earlier this week and whether a pardon for his son, Hunter Biden, should happen before the end of his term in office.
“There’s a much more serious pardon that many people are wondering about, and that is people are wondering, should Biden pardon his son, Hunter?” Whoopi Goldberg asked the panel on Wednesday. “Or does that make him an even bigger target for You-Know-Who coming in?”
The hosts, along with the vocal audience, mostly agreed that the president’s son should receive a pardon.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said she would personally support a pardon for her own hypothetical child, if it were to happen to her, but she also cautioned that a pardon could create criticism considering “a lot of people who are wrongly incarcerated now or incarcerated on minor charges who don’t have a connected powerful father.”
Host Ana Navarro responded that President-elect Donald Trump had previously pardoned his son-in-law’s father, Charlie Kushner, “who pleaded guilty to 16 counts of tax evasion, one count of retaliating against a federal witness and one count of lying to the Federal Election Commission.”
“So I would say if people didn’t have an issue with Trump pardoning his son-in-law’s father, I don’t think they should have an issue with Joe Biden pardoning his son,” she added.
Co-host Joy Behar quipped, “We do know that Trump is going to be handing out pardons like cheeseburgers as soon as he gets into office.”
Sunny Hostin chimed in that she thought the only reason why Hunter Biden was indicted “was because his last name is Biden” and a pardon would “correct course.”
“I’m exhausted and I think Biden has taken such a punching this time with all the losing the election… having to hand it off. The way everything has gone, I just feel like this would be the one thing I would wish for him that he could just say, ‘You know what, I’m out and so is Hunter,’” Sara Haines said.

Behar added another quip, “They should also pardon those dogs that bit the Secret Service agents. Those dogs need to be pardoned.”
The audience laughed and Farah Griffin agreed, “Just for Commander Biden, that I’m on board with!”
