Anderson County man faces charges of ill treatment of 4 emaciated German shepherds, 1 dead

Alton Davis, a 36-year-old Anderson County man, has been booked into the Anderson County Detention Center after authorities say he neglected four dogs.

On Tuesday, November 19, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Unit deputies were dispatched to an address on Sarah Simpson Road in Iva regarding a report of emaciated German shepherds, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival at the residence, they discovered four severely underweight and emaciated German Shepherds living in deplorable conditions.

Officials mentioned that one of the dogs passed away before help arrived. The remaining three dogs were seized and transported to Anderson County PAWS, now receiving extensive medical treatment and care.

Davis has been charged with four counts of ill-treatment of animals and one count of improper burial. He is currently booked at the Anderson County Detention Center, where he is being held under a $20,000 surety bond.
