KENT COUNTY, Mich. — A total of 19 dogs who were rescued from a truck are now looking for their forever homes just in time for the holidays.
The dogs had been living in a truck with their owner, Carolyn Newsome, who was taken into custody and charged with animal abuse on Oct. 14. Newsome agreed to surrender the dogs last week.
Police originally said 17 dogs were found in the truck—but one dog ended up having puppies, bringing the total to 19.
The dogs have been with the Kent County Animal Shelter since October. In a post on Facebook, the shelter posted some of the dogs’ photos and said they would “love to spend their time home this Thanksgiving instead of in the shelter for the long weekend.”
