Pilot, dog dead in Greene County crash on Sunday.
The pilot and one dog was killed in a plane crash in Greene County on Sunday.
A Mooney M20J crashed around 6:10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 in a remote location in the town of Windham. The plane was traveling from Maryland to Albany carrying the pilot and three dogs.
The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator was identified as Seuk Kim, 49, of Springfield, Virginia.
A second dog has two broken legs and being cared for at the Capital District Veterinary Hospital in Latham. The third one was missing, but it was found while investigators were at the scene. It has minor injuries.
A preliminary report from the FAA says the “aircraft crashed under unknown circumstances in mountain terrain, Albany, NY.”
An autopsy is being performed at Ellis Hospital.
Investigators initially reported that the plan was a Cessna.
New York State Forest Rangers, State Police, Greene County Emergency Services, the Windham and Hensonville fire departments and the Civil Air Patrol assisted at the scene.
The FAA is responding, and the investigation is ongoing.
