A pet owner’s lighthearted jab at their golden retriever’s nonchalance at being driven for hours to a Thanksgiving event has left viewers online in stitches.
The owner had taken to TikTok on November 24 to joke that their golden retriever, Arthur, looked like a “moody teenager,” after being chauffeured for 17 hours so that he could also attend the family party. Being of a larger dog breed, the canine would not have been allowed to sit in cabin with their owner on a flight. The post, which captured the dog sitting melancholically in the back of a car, has been liked more than 1.2 million times to date.
Viewers on TikTok were able to see the pet sitting to one side in the back of the moving car, with his gaze firmly held on what was happening outside the window.

An overlaid text on the video read: “Has no idea that we drove 17 hours instead of flying 2 hours so he could be at Thanksgiving and is acting like a moody teenager.”
“Acting like this was our idea,” the pet’s owner, who posted the clip under @arthurthefloof, wrote in the caption.
Golden retrievers, known for their playful and approachable temperament, tend to weigh between 55 and 75 pounds, dependent on their age and gender. Most airlines do not allow for pets heavier than 17 or 18 pounds to sit in cabin with their owners, making driving the most-frequent last resort for owners keen to bring their heavier pets on vacation.

The post has resonated widely, amassing almost 2,000 comments, many of which poke fun at the dog’s nonchalance at the fact their owner had driven them for miles so that they too could be involved in the Thanksgiving event.
