DC dogs get a second chance: HRA extends adoption goal deadline

WASHINGTON — The weekend was a tail-wagging success for the Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA), with 40 dogs finding their forever or foster homes during the “48 Dogs in 48 Hours” adoption promotion. But with the goal extremely close—just eight pups away—the HRA has decided to extend the deadline for one more day.

What’s the scoop?
HRA is waiving adoption fees for all dogs Monday only. They’re open from noon to 7 p.m. at both shelter locations:

  • 71 Oglethorpe St. NW
  • 1201 New York Ave. NE

Whether you’re looking for a cuddly companion to snuggle up with during holiday movie marathons or a high-energy buddy to join you on Turkey Trot training sessions, your perfect match might just be waiting for you.

And with Thanksgiving right around the corner, what better way to show your gratitude for life’s blessings than by giving a pup the gift of a loving home.

Even if you’re not ready to adopt, fostering is a fantastic way to provide a temporary home and help ease overcrowding in shelters. Visit humanerescuealliance.org/dogs to learn more about fostering or adopting your new best friend.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
