Maricopa County Animal Care and Control is holding their third annual “Turkey Tasters” event to help pets in need find a home for the holidays.
The event will allow people to welcome a foster pet into their home during the week of Thanksgiving or even longer.
“This is a great opportunity for people who can’t commit to a long-term pet but still want to help homeless animals,” said Communications Supervisor Kim Powell. “Whether you’re expecting a house full of guests or spending the holiday alone, we have several dogs who would love the company.”
People interested in the program must complete an application before coming to the shelter to select a foster pet.
“Fostering is a great way to not only give our dogs a break from shelter life but also network them in a different and exciting way,” said alternative placement supervisor Dana Klose. “Who knows, maybe some of these fosters will decide to leave a permanent seat at their table for their ‘Turkey Taster!’”
Eligible dogs in the Turkey Tasters program are at least 6 months old. The agency will send them home with a goodie bag full of supplies.
Fosters can pick up their pets at either of MCACC’s shelter locations until Weds., Nov. 27.
Walk-ins are welcome at both locations between noon and 5 p.m., or you can schedule an appointment to ensure a quick and easy pick-up process. Appointments are not required.
More information is available on MCACC’s website.
