Dog Adoption Event Held in Rome

Dog Adoption Event Held in Rome

ROME, N.Y. — A dog adoption event was held on Saturday at the Rome Department of Public Works City Yard.

The event was held by the city in conjunction with the Rome Humane Society. Both entities house stray or unwanted dogs, combined they can care for about 30 canines.

A dog adoption event was held on Saturday at the Rome Department of Public Works City Yard.

Both, however, are at their maximum capacity and are out of room in their shelters.

“The City of Rome, we do house dogs when we get strays and things like that,” Rome Mayor Jeffrey Lanigan said. “We got to maximum capacity, we reached out to the Humane Society, we partner with them for our dogs to go over there. They weren’t able to take any because they were at capacity.”

Saturday’s function is the second dog adoption event this year, the first one was held in May. With the ongoing capacity crisis at both shelters, another dog adoption event was needed.

“The Humane Society jumped on board, they were ecstatic with it,” Lanigan said about his proposal to do this event.

May’s event was a success, as eight dogs were adopted. Nine dogs had already found new homes just two hours into Saturday’s adoption drive.

The City of Rome paid for all of the fees associated with each adoption on Saturday.

Dogs are still available for adoption at both shelters. If you cannot adopt a dog, but would still like to help, each one is looking for donations of food, toys, treats, blankets, and towels.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
