Dozens of dogs rescued from the Bahamas were flown to Rylie’s Rescue in Skippack, where they are being cared for as they await to find their forever homes, reports Lee Anne Kayati for 6abc.
A total of 41 dogs were brought in from the Bahamas Humane Society.
“The dogs down in the Bahamas don’t have a chance,” said Angie Lafond, director and founder of Rylie’s Rescue. “There’re so many strays. They’re just living off of the streets or they’re living in a shelter.”
The dogs flew into Philadelphia, where they were picked up by the rescue’s vans.
“Then they came back here and then they will be bathed,” said Lafond. “So we have 41 dogs, and we have about 12 or 13 that are pre-adopted. And then we have about five or six meet-greets coming to meet specific dogs.”
The remainder of the dogs will go into foster care for now.
Founded five years ago, Rylie’s Rescue is a foster-based, volunteer-only organization with foster homes located along the East Coast, from New York to Virginia. The rescue successfully places around 400 dogs each year.
