How long do great Danes live?

The average great Danes lives between 8 to 10 years, according to the American Kennel Club, who also says this about large dogs:”It also poses an interesting paradox. After all, some of the longest-living animals in the wild, such as elephants and whales, are also the largest, while smaller animals like rodents live for only a handful of years. Why are dogs so different?

Scientists do not yet understand the exact reasons behind this contradiction, although they have a few theories, but they do know that large dogs appear to age faster than small dogs. It is almost as if large dogs live their adult lives in fast motion, and for better or for worse, the bigger the dog, it seems, the less time we have with them.”

Do you need a large house to have a great Dane?

Generally, great Danes are considered pretty mellow and are happy even in an apartment. As long as they get some outdoor exercise and snuggles with their humans, they’re generally very happy.

Why are great Danes called ‘the Apollo of dogs’?

Some believe that the Great Dane originally appeared on Roman coins, resulting in the nickname of a Roman god. More commonly though, it is assumed that the Great Dane is called the Apollo of Dogs because it resembles the god Apollo with its sleek and athletic build.
