McNairy resident speaks out, claims she was attacked by neighbor’s dogs

MCNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn.– One lady speaks out after surviving what she calls a horrific attack.

Tammy Harmon says she was attacked by her neighbor’s dogs after taking her normal morning walk.

“They growl and let me know that that’s their territory, that’s the reason I cut through. I don’t go no where near their place,” she shares.

Harmon says two dogs began barking as her neighbor who walked out of the house and two more dogs followed her.

“If I turned around and tried to get this one off of me they were attacking me from the front. If I turned to the front they were attacking me from the back. When she walked over trying to help me they even got more aggressive,” said Harmon.

She says a dog bit her on her calf and eventually she says she was being dragged to a nearby ditch.

“She come over and grab me by the hand and “Get up get up get up” and I couldn’t because of that leg. When I done (reached up) that she had my arm up they got me on me side,” said Harmon.

Harmon claims the dogs have caused problems with other residents in the area.

She says a neighbor that was returning home helped saved her life.

“She was trying to yell at them telling them to go home, she was calling them by name and they were out for me. They were out for me. I’ve never done nothing to those dogs because I avoid them and I am a dog person,” Harmon added.

After the attack Harmon says her neighbor was advised to quarantine the dogs for 10 days.

“This is not right, the fact that they’re still running with her. I was in the hospital from Saturday to Monday. My neighbors told me she was walking down this road with the four that are aggressive, cause are the ones that follows her, Sunday,” she said.

Harmon say since this attack it has been difficult for her to sleep.

“When I sleep, I may sleep an hour and that’s what I dream of. I wake up shaking in a cold sweat and just a panic attack and then I’m up for the rest of the night because I don’t want to go back sleep to dream the dream,” said Harmon.

Harmon says she has reached out to the McNairy County Sheriff’s Department.

They are advising for anyone to contact the sheriffs office to inform them of any shelters that will take these dogs in.

McNairy County Sheriff’s Department contact is (731) 645-1004.
