50 Shih Tzus seized from home in Norridgewock, some available for adoption

NORRIDGEWOCK, Maine — A few shelters in Maine have an influx of Shih Tzus following a massive seizure from a home in Norridgewock. The State of Maine Animal Welfare Program took in 50 dogs, along with a handful of cats from what they’re calling inhumane conditions.

Local agencies including the Animal Welfare Society (AWS) in Kennebunk and the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland (ARLGP) have received some of the dogs.

Veterinarians are taking care of some of their needs, from medical issues to vaccinations. Many were cleaned and groomed on site because they were covered in feces and severely matted, according to a press release from both the ARLGP and AWS.

This week, some of the dogs are available for adoption. There are 23 at ARLGP and nine at AWS, which also took in the cats.

“These animals have been through a very stressful period and many are not accustomed to living in a loving, home setting,” the press release stated. “They will need patience, love, and support from their new families as they transition into an unfamiliar, but safer and healthier life.”

The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
