LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) – Workers with the Lake City Humane Society say they were down to the last 50 pound bag of dry dog food Monday, and they are hoping you can help restock their shelves.
They currently have 70 dogs in 61 kennels and are expecting another 20 dogs to be dropped off Tuesday.
Since they posted on Facebook of their need for more dry dog food, some bags were delivered, but the executive director says they go through about 100 pounds of food every day. They are also in need of cat food.

“People think you are the humane society so you take everything. So, if someone brings in a litter of six kittens, you are the humane society, you have to take them. If we are full, we are full and we have no place to put them, and it’s very difficult to have to explain that to people” said Executive Director Elizabeth Halloran
Your donations are being accepted at the humane society’s Lake City location at 1392 Northwest Shelter Glen. The hours will be Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
They have a link to their amazon wish list pinned to the top of their Facebook page, Lake City Humane Society.
