Dog’s unusual demand every time owner vacuums goes viral

A dog named Akira has a very unique demand while her owner cleans their house—and internet users can’t stop laughing at it.

In a viral TikTok video shared on Saturday by the pup’s owner under the username @akira301040, the Jack Russell can be seen lying on the floor while her owner vacuums her belly—and she clearly seems to be enjoying the unusual activity.

As the poster tries to move the vacuum away to clean the rest of the room, Akita starts chasing her owner around, demanding that she keeps on vacuuming her instead.

While Akira seems to be oddly fascinated by the vacuum cleaner, this is not always the case for dogs. in fact, they’re usually not the biggest fans of the appliance.

A Dogster article medically reviewed by Dr. Ashley Darby previously said that most pets are noise-sensitive. Dogs in particular can hear sounds much more intensely than we can, and so what for us is barely a nuisance, for them can be very annoying.

That is why they are usually scared of the vacuum, and sometimes this fear can lead to unwanted behaviors.

Dogs who were exposed to vacuum cleaners during their socialization period, which lasts from 3 to 14 weeks, are less likely to be afraid of them But no worries, you can train your adult dog to tolerate it.

The first thing to do, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC), is to introduce the vacuum in a controlled environment, operating it at a very low volume or at a great distance from the dog.

Then you can start pairing the noise made by the vacuum with your dog’s favorite treat, repeating this process until your dog changes their mind about it.

Once your pup is no longer afraid of it, you can gradually increase the volume of the vacuum, and repeat until your dog no longer minds it.
