FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) – Those who live on Powhatan Trail in Frankfort said they’ve never had any issues in the area until just a few months ago.
They said that’s when a man moved into a home on their street with his pit bulls.
Those neighbors opted to remain anonymous but said the dogs kept getting loose.
“The animals were out running down the street, and several of the neighbors saw them on their cameras and several neighbors attempted to put them back in, and they became aggressive,” one of the neighbors said.
On Monday, Frankfort Police received a call that someone had been bitten by one of the pit bulls, causing them to track down the dog’s owner.
“It’s a safety issue with the dogs not being socialized; they’re like a pack, so we’re all kind of afraid,” another neighbor said.
Police found the dogs’ owner, Bradley Rogers, and then made a grim discovery.
They said four adult dogs and 12 puppies were living inside that home.
Police added although the home had no furniture inside it, the floors were lined with dog urine and feces.
Police have reason to believe no one was living in the home with the dogs at the time.
The home has since been condemned.
“We’re glad that it’s being taken care of for all of our sakes. For the dogs’ sakes and for ours,” a neighbor said.
The neighbors added although they feel safer knowing these dogs have been seized, they still care for the dogs’ well-being.
Those neighbors are creating a fund to help care for those dogs while they’re being housed by the Franklin County Humane Society.
“We just want them to be cared for and provided a better place and to be safe,” a neighbor added.
Police cited Rogers for harboring a vicious animal because of the dog bite.
More criminal charges against him are also pending.
