Police in Dorchester are investigating the scene after a dog was shot after it reportedly attacked people in the area of Dakota Street on Monday.The Boston Police Department had several blocks of Dakota Street blocked off Monday night after responding to a 911 call around 8:30 p.m. reporting a dog attack.Police confirmed that a civilian and an officer were both attacked by the dog in an athletic field between Dakota Street and Westville Street. Both were transported to the hospital to be treated for dog bites and are expected to recover. However, the officer said he was forced to shoot the dog. Police have yet to confirm its fate, but NewsCenter 5 reporters at the scene saw what appears to be a dead dog across the field, with police taking photos of it.
