Waterbury woman faces animal cruelty charges after dogs left in abandoned car

WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Kadesha Wilson, 29, of Waterbury faced a judge on Friday after being charged with animal cruelty towards two dogs.

According to court documents, Wilson’s female terrier-mix and male pit bull were neglected.

News 8 is told the pit bull, named Shadow, was left in an abandoned car outside Wilson’s apartment on Marley Place.

The inside of the car was covered with feces and the animal was malnourished.

“I was aghast,” said Diana Urban, a retired state representative who helped recover the dogs. “[Shadow] weighed 21 pounds when they finally got him to the vet. They could not get an IV in a normal vein.”

Urban, who is president of Protecting Kids & Pets Partnership, collaborated with the Bridgeport Animal Rescue Crew (BARC), the nonprofit working to get Shadow back to health.

“[Shadow] was at the Shelton vet for a couple of days at least, saving his life,” Urban said.

We’re told the condition of the terrier-mix, named Jada, is not as severe.

Both dogs are currently in foster homes.

But BARC is also searching for a third dog. They say a tan, female pit bull was kept in a cage with Shadow and is now missing.

“We have established a $1,500 straight-up cash reward, no questions asked, to see if we can find out where that female is,” Urban said.

As for Wilson, the court said she does not have a prior criminal record.

She was released Friday on conditions that she promises to reappear and not possess any animals.

Wilson’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 12.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
