DELAVAN, Wis. (WKOW) — A large fire broke out at Lollipups Pet Resort in Walworth County Thursday, sending thick smoke billowing from a hay barn on the property.
Exclusive video from WKOW’s Milwaukee affiliate showed smoke pouring out of the barn where the fire started. Meanwhile, a group of dogs that had been kenneled inside the resort were seen huddling together outside the building.
The resort’s general manager acted quickly, managing to bring all 22 dogs to safety before fire crews arrived to battle the flames. Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze, including the pets and staff at the resort.
“All the dogs are safe. Lollipups did not burn down. Our dogs were our first priority. We got them out first thing,” said Danell Vincenti, the owner of Lollipups.
The hay that caught fire inside the barn was used for the owners’ other business located across the street from the pet resort.
Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire, but it appears that no structural damage occurred to the main pet resort facility.
