Dog groomers hold fundraiser for Benton boy who has cancer

BENTON, La. (KSLA) — A dog groomer recently learned that her 12-year-old son has cancer in his spine.

So while they were in New Orleans waiting to go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Wendy’s Groom Room owner Wendy Pierce and fellow groomers from throughout the Benton area and Shreveport/Bossier City teamed up to hold a fundraiser for the family.

“One of our fellow groomers that is very special to us and her son is fighting cancer right now,” Pierce said. “He’ll be leaving on the sixth to go to St. Jude. And this is to help with all of their family needs, all of the things that they’re going through right now because she’s out of work.”

For a few hours Sunday (Nov. 3), they trimmed dogs’ nails at Pierce’s business in Benton. The cost was a $15 donation. Bayou Two’s food truck also was there.

And the raffles continue. Gift certificates and other prizes are being offered. The cost is $5 per ticket or $25 for six tickets. The drawing will be held the weekend before Thanksgiving.

KSLA News 12′s Miracle Garrett will bring us more about the fundraiser this evening.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
