A pet owner’s bond with her adopted dog has delighted viewers online.
The owner (@finneasandmilo) took to TikTok to share the sweet reason why she believes she was “supposed” to adopt her pet—that both instinctively associate 8 p.m. as the time for a quick bedtime snack.
She shared a short clip of her Jack Russell terrier and toy poodle mix racing through the kitchen for their favorite treat, an evening carrot stick.
The post, captioned “the best cronchies,” has been viewed more than 1.5 million times and has warmed viewers’ hearts.
The video showed the dog running around the kitchen excitedly before being given a carrot stick. He took the snack up to bed and enjoyed it on a blanket before settling down to sleep.
An overlaid text on the video read: “I was made to adopt him because how could anyone else possibly understand that 8 p.m. on the dot means it’s time to dance in the kitchen for a peeled and washed bedtime carrot.”
The lighthearted video has drawn in more than 1300 comments from viewers online, many of whom have been able to relate to the pet owner’s uncommon yet adorable routine with her canine.
“If my husband makes the slightest noise chewing I get mad. This baby angel though,” one viewer, @lili.ana.living, said.
Another, @mc_bubble, wrote: “Sooooo dogs can eat whole carrots. Need to show my boy this immediately. He insists on cutting it small and still pretends it’s not enough, even though he loves ’em.”
“Why are dog cronchies the cutest,” a third viewer, @itsmargsb, said.
“My parents new puppy didn’t understand why the tortoises were getting watermelon as a treat without her. So we gave her her own piece. We have a picture of them all in a circle together eating,” @wakeupsleeprepeat commented.
“Carrots are amazing for their teeth,” @ravenhodgins1 said. “Wish my dog would eat them lol he spits them out in million pieces.”
“Mine RUNS to her bed after her last potty [because] she knows it’s bedtime and she gets her crunchy stick. she stares at [your] hands when [you] walk into the room. No crunchy? No sleep,” @shawllister, said.
