The internet has been left in stitches by a dog’s unimpressed reaction as soon as his owner dared to suggest having a dreaded bath.
TikTok user Jay Anthony shared the hilarious clip on October 16 (@jayanthony95) showing how excited his dog looked when he said: “do you want to go for a ride?” The dog’s ears instantly perked up and he sat upright to show how interested he was. But sadly, it was all in vain, because Anthony then jokingly said: “now let’s go take a bath,” and all of the dog’s excitement evaporated.
As soon as he heard his owner utter the word “bath,” his expression changed to one of sheer disappointment, and he immediately lay back down. He clearly looked unhappy to have got up for no reason and wasted so much energy.
The viral video has delighted social media users since it was shared, gaining more than 6.4 million views and over 1.6 million likes on TikTok in just a number of days.

There’s no doubt this dog isn’t too keen on the idea of bathtime and would probably rather do anything else. But thankfully for him, it’s not something he has to endure too frequently.
Indeed, the website PetMD suggests that most dogs can benefit from a weekly clean to shorten their nails, clean their ears, and comb through their fur. But they likely won’t need a proper bath each time though, as bathing too frequently can dry their coat out and strip the oils from their skin. In general, some dogs might need a weekly wash, while others may only need a few baths a year, according to PetMD.
Factors that determine how regularly a dog should be bathed include their coat type, their age, health conditions, lifestyle, and even the seasonality. During the warmer months, dogs can be prone to greasy coats and odor, and they’re more likely to go swimming in potentially dirty water. They may require more bathing at this time to clean the grime or skin irritants off them. Older dogs tend to require less cleaning because they’re less active and might not go outside quite as much they did during their younger years.
What Did TikTokers Say?
Internet users can’t get enough of the dog’s clear distaste for bath time, leading to more than 6,800 comments since the clip went viral. Many even pointed out how human-like his unimpressed mannerisms and expression were.
One TikTok user responded: “He’s like, you play too much.”
Another person wrote: “he said, immediately no.”
“He said forget that plan,” joked one TikToker.
While another comment reads: “The eye roll! Lol.”
