Pucci Cafe in Katy supports pet rescues through dog-friendly boutique, cafe

Bobby and Maria Davidson were inspired to create Pucci Cafe after a Mediterranean cruise took them to Monaco, Barcelona and London, Bobby Davidson said.

The European-inspired, dog-friendly boutique cafe opened in September 2022 as a passion project the couple began after their kids left home, he said.

“We’re a luxury dog boutique, but we’re also a public cafe,” he said. “So like-minded people, dog owners, dog lovers, can come here and have third-wave coffee drinks.”

What to expect

Located at the LaCenterra retail center near the owner’s Cinco Ranch home, Pucci Cafe sits in a suite along a small lake with fountains and a Spanish-inspired patio with a small “bark park” for puppies to play, Davidson said.

The exterior design features ample seating and lighting, as well as multiple living plant walls with the cafe’s name at the center.

Baristas use an imported espresso machine to craft specialty drinks named after dogs, such as the Newfypoo Nitro and the Chow Chow Cold Brew.

On Thursday and Sunday evenings, Latin jazz guitarist Carlos G performs while customers sip wine and bond with their dogs, Davidson said.

The inspiration

Davidson claimed Pucci Cafe was the first official dog-friendly patio in Fort Bend County where customers can purchase artisan coffees, wine, desserts, designer dog accessories and dog treats from a “barkery.”

Inside the cafe, there’s a wall filled with photos of pets up for adoption with a scannable barcode for more information about them and the agency taking care of them.

This, along with the portion of Pucci Cafe’s online and in-store profits being directed to pet rescues nationwide, supports its mission to bring awareness to adopting from these organizations, Bobby Davidson said.

“We think that Tori, the one we adopted [from Yorkie Haven Rescue], was escaping a puppy mill when she got hit by a car,” he said. “They nursed her back to health and it was pretty expensive. So they make sure they go to a good home.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
