DULUTH, Minn. – People who went to The Caddy Shack Sunday got a special treat. Let’s say you were barking up the right tree!
The bar hosted a dog costume contest and silent auction. It was put on by PJ’s Rescue.
Plenty of dogs showed up to show off and raise money for a good cause.
“Our directors really like Halloween,” says foster coordinator Rachel, “and we often have events here at The Caddy Shack, and they kind of were like, wanted to do something different, and involve the community, so that’s how the Halloween costume contest kind of came to be. We’re accepting donations, this helps us to be able to rescue more animals, and also helps with vet bills and the cost involved in animals we do have in the rescue.”
Rachel adds this event is always a success. Now in its third year, the community turnout has been great. “It just gets the community out and gets people bringing in their dogs they’ve adopted through us, or just any dog that they have, they bring them in with costumes, and then we also have our adoptable pets here as well that are dressed up and looking for their forever homes. It’s just a fun, family event, kids are welcome, and it’s just, it’s really cute to see all of the animals dressed up, and people come out and show their animals, it’s just the vibe is just fun and it’s great to get everyone involved.”
