A former Madison County detention center employee is facing charges after deputies found 45 dogs and four horses suffering from malnutrition.The animals were also left without any cover from the weather, according to a news release from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. The dogs and horses were were taken to the Webster Animal Shelter in Madison and were seen by veterinarians.Wesley Keyser was arrested and charged with 49 counts of animal cruelty.”The dogs and horses were living in deplorable conditions, and it is our hope they will be matched with new owners,” said Sheriff Randy Tucker. “For those who hurt our animals, be aware that we will take every legal measure to make sure you pay the price for hurting the defenseless. This will never be tolerated in Madison County.”Tucker said Keyser worked for nine months at the Madison County Detention Center, but was fired when he was arrested.
